Morgan Madison is a Seattle artist working in numerous media, kiln formed glass primary among them. His practice includes developing new work that explores ever-evolving themes, creating commissioned artworks and teaching students around the world. Madison’s parents and teachers encouraged his artistic inclinations from an early age, and he found inspiration in the guiding light of Bob Ross, learning to believe in the value of art. These encouragements led him to study at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR, receiving a BA in Studio Art. A subsequent job in the fiery depths of the Bullseye Glass Co factory introduced him to the material that now forms the core of his practice. In 2013, after 10 years developing his career in Oregon, Madison put down roots in Seattle, and he now works in a studio built from the ground up with the help of friends. Recent exhibitions include a 2023 solo exhibition at Pier 69, Seattle, WA, and Seattle Art Fair 2024 with the Corning Museum of Glass. Professional residencies include S12, Bergen, Norway; the Museum of Arts and Design, New York City; and Northlands Creative, Scotland. Recent courses taught include Pittsburgh Glass Center, and Warm Glass, Bristol, UK. |
