Judy Tuwaletstiwa has been a visual artist, writer, and teacher of the creative process for over fifty years. She has worked with various materials, including clay, sand, mud, feathers, sticks, fiber, and acrylic on canvas. After her 18-month residency at Bullseye Glass Resource Center in Santa Fe in 2012, kiln-fired glass became essential. She writes: In this vast desert, a thin membrane separates the daily world and the world of spirit. This elemental landscape holds a deep reservoir of the Unconscious. It continually reminds us of the fragility and tenacity of life. My work is to integrate the dark and the light into a harmonious whole that speaks directly to the soul. Her art and books reside in numerous public, private, and corporate collections. In 2023, she received the New Mexico Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts. Pie Projects Contemporary Art, in Santa Fe, represents her work.
