Team up with heat, time, and gravity to form glass in a variety of amazing ways. In this live online class with Bullseye’s Hannah Gulick, you’ll learn all about the theory and practice of slumping, an umbrella term for the process of shaping glass in a kiln.

The basics and not-so-basic skills are here:

What is slumping—and what can it do?

Not only will you find answers, you’ll be empowered to start exploring whatever your experience level.

Which mold is right for a particular job?

You’ll be able to make sure you have molds that best serve your glass and your visions for it.

How can you make your own custom molds?

Discover how you can create the unique shape you’re after, without any go-betweens.

Along with these lessons, the class will also cover:

  • How do different mold materials affect glass and project types?
  • How do molds affect firing schedules—and vice versa?
  • What are the best methods and products for preparing molds?
  • How can you create custom drop-out molds?
  • How does fire polishing work and how is it best used?

With Slumping Essentials, you’ll receive:

  • Long-term online access to the 1-hour class video
  • 2 live online zoom sessions with Hannah Gulick
  • Access to the class’s exclusive Facebook Group
  • A helpful class guide that will help you learn and stay organized

Unlock the ability to explore all kinds of beautiful forms: bowls, plates, platters, candleholders, vases, serving dishes, and—along with just about any piece of dishware you can imagine—a rainbow of sculptural possibilities!

    Class Logistics

The class will happen over two sessions:

    • The first of these is a Viewing Party where you go through the video lesson chapter by chapter with your cohort and instructor Hannah Gulick. Students will be able to ask questions and get live answers throughout this session.
    • The second live, online session will take place several weeks later, after you’ve had time to experiment with techniques of your choice. During the follow up, students will review each others’ uploaded images of class projects. You’ll discuss what worked, what didn’t, and why.

With the knowledge and skills gained in this class, you'll be ready to explore just about any possibility slumping can offer.
