Welcome to Bay Area Drop-Out Saw Orientation! With the help of this online tutorial and in-person orientation you will soon understand the basics of operating a Drop-Out Saw. Completing this Orientation will qualify you go rent a Drop-Out Saw at any Bullseye Glass Resource Center during Open Studio.
In the first part of orientation, you’ll follow along with the 30-minute Drop-Out Saw Orientation video and its downloadable Orientation Guide. This will give you a basic overview of the tool's operation and safety practices. In the second part of orientation, you’ll schedule an appointment at Bullseye Resource Center Bay Area. During your appointment, you’ll receive in-person, hands-on oversight of your drop-out saw competency using a small glass vessel that will be provided. (If you provide your own glass vessel, you'll receive a $30 in-store credit.) After you've demonstrated competency, you'll be approved to rent and use our drop-out saw for your own Bullseye glass projects!
To get started, sign up, then download your Orientation Guide. It contains lots of helpful information, plus the link and password you'll need to access the video tutorial.
Please note: this orientation does not teach glassworking methods or introduce projects. But if you're removing rims from drop-out vessels, you'll immediately appreciate what a game-changing tool the drop-out saw can be.
