This version of Painting With Glass integrates how we learn from our materials (in this case powders and frit) with how we develop and realize our own ideas and imagery. Using colored glass powder, frit, and stringer as mediums for painting on sheet glass provides broader creative possibilities than when using traditional painting methods and materials. This course begins by leading students to compile a set of reference tiles through use of a diverse glass powders palette. Building upon the knowledge gained through this reference set, the course guides students through a series of exercises that further explore the possibilities within this unique medium. Then, in a culminating project, students will combine everything they have learned about the effects of heat, color, layering, and chemical reactions to realize their own aesthetic visions. This course should be considered a starting point for exploring how personalized ideas may be discovered, developed, and realized through glass. It is appropriate for all skill levels and has no prerequisites. No prerequisites.
