This class focuses on the mark making techniques and textural possibilities artist Heather Deyling explores in her work. A variety of glass and alternative materials, including glass powder and frit, Color Line paints, underglaze pencils, and Dykem markers will be investigated. Through demonstrations, group exercises, and individualized attention, students will experiment with a range of possibilities for creating both implied and physical texture on glass. Working on both sides of 6mm sheet glass, students will explore layering imagery and creating depth. The class will also cover the elements and principles of design, including color harmonies and color properties. Students will develop ideas and samples and create two 8" x 10" pieces.
