This class covers techniques Van Madison uses to achieve the crisp linear quality and distinctive character of his glass work. Through technical demonstrations and one-on-one discussion, you'll explore facets of the process including: developing ideas in a sketchbook, cutting and assembling glass compositions, basic powder printing, and preparing work for firing.
Several different projects will allow you to experiment with these techniques while being challenged to think creatively about concept. Finishing work in the coldshop and strategies for display will also be covered. The aim of this class is to give you the tools to pursue your own unique visions efficiently, confidently, and to have fun while doing so.
Kilnforming experience is recommended.
