Dam it Drop it, Santa Fe, March 24 & 26-28, 2020

Push the potential of drop out molds further than ever. In this class, you will use a medium drop out ring to create a deep vessel.

To begin, you will design and create a thick blank. Your blank will be devised to form a deep vessel during a 7” drop (a slumping we will observe on day 3). The resulting vessel will have thick sidewalls and produce minimal waste when its rim is removed. After slumping, the vessel’s sidewalls will be robust enough that you can use a tile saw and other cold shop equipment to remove its rim and finish it.

During the class, you will also create a number of part sheets and sample tiles that will help you develop color combinations and ideas for use in future projects.
