Description

Details

Learn from the pioneer of the contemporary Vitrigraph methods in this four-day workshop. In 2009 while a member of the Research and Education Department at Bullseye, Nathan set out to see if he could “make some cane” using the Vitrigraph kiln as he had been accustomed to in the hot shop. Looking back, the results were discouraging compared to what can be achieved in this small kiln today. In this workshop students will learn what is possible when they take a thoughtful approach to using the Vitrigraph kiln. Both cane (decorative rods) and murrine (designed cross-sections) will be presented and explored in class. All students will have access to three pots of glass and will work hands on with the hot molten material. The resulting elements will then be used in small fusing based projects in class. Proper safety equipment will be provided. Prospective students should be confident in their circle cutting.
