Materials speak to our eyes, our mind, our hands, and our heart. From materials, we create form, dreaming objects into being, objects that also dream us through their presence and use. Materials hold memory: Over millennia, rock dissolves into clay and sand. With fire, we transform that sand into an amorphous solid, glass.
Using clay, paint, paper, thread, sand, words, glass sheets, and powders, we’ll live in the creative process to discover our unique vision. We will also explore glass as a material that breaks, discovering how that can inspire us to let go as we mend, amend, and re-envision our work over the course of multiple firings, using processes developed by both teachers.
In the beauty of Santa Fe and the light of the high desert, we’ll work in the Bullseye Resource Center, the Center for Contemporary Art, Judy’s studio, and outdoors in the beautiful Galisteo Bosque.
