Learn how to create graphic imagery on glass with rich textures and colors that can't be achieved with traditional printing methods.

Class Times
Friday-Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday Noon-3pm

In powder printing, images are produced by pressing dry glass powder through a prepared silkscreen. Prints can then be full-fused for smooth surfaces or tack-fused for textured surfaces that resemble relief printing or sandblasting. Your images can also be printed directly onto a kiln shelf to produce wafer-thin work that can stand alone or be attached to a substrate.

You'll learn image preparation, design possibilities and firing options through various hands-on projects, demonstrations, and examples. (This class is based on a printing technique developed by artist Stacy Lynn Smith.)

What past students are saying:

  • "The class was an amazing combination of technical information, hands-on practice, and creative inspiration."
  • "Exactly what I was looking for: how to create and transfer my photographic images to glass through a non-contact silk screening process."
  • "Fantastic class! Very informative, inspirational, interesting, and fun."

No prerequisites, but basic computer and digital image editing skills are helpful.
